International English Certificates

Hi my friends,

Sorry, I’ve abandoned you … haven't it? :-(
But I have a good reason for that :-), in the last two or three weeks, I was desperate because I would take the International Spanish Certificate (DELE - Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera) last Saturday. Thanks God, now I am free of it :-)! It was difficult! The grammar and vocabulary test was terrible; there were idiomatic expressions that people use just in Spain. It’s really bad, isn’t it? Anyway, I’m very satisfied with my Spanish and I’m sure I’ve done everything that I learnt with my dear “maestra” Marcela Bown (She’s a great Spanish teacher from Yazigi).

By the way, what do you think about the International English Certificates? Which are the most required? TOEFL? Cambridge exams (FCE, CPE)? IELTS? Etc. When should we take one? Are you confident to take one of them?

p.s I wasn’t shocked with a certain teacher wearing a Scottish kilt, he was cute :-)))))

  1. oh, godness! teachers in kilts? hopefully enough that won't become a new fashion trend at yázigi. =D well, concerning International Certificates... i still think that an old-fashioned interview (followed by a short essay composition) is the best way to test someone's abilities in a language. tests like toefl, elsa, and the dele can be really tricky, especially when they decide that you have to know the smallest and least significant expression used by a group of ten inhabitants of a lost town in the middle of the pirineus. besides, there's the nervousness issue. i'd only take one of them for specific reasons, such as when applying for a foreign university or something. meanwhile, i'd rather keep cool about it.

welcome back, tania, and good luck for you!

  2. Tania, we were missing you! :D Be welcome, huh?
I kindda agree with Berttoni... C'mon if it's not so used, why having to know every little expression? We don't even know some in our oficial tongue, imagine in a foreing language! :P Besides, the nervousness is something that can really get you in trouble! I've already taken the London Examinations, I liked it :) aihaua.

  4. I agree with you Berttoni that International Certificates can be a tricky, but I can't deny that I improved my Spanish a lot while I was studying for DELE. It was a kind of study method, do you know? It's really interesting.

Great Juu! When will you take the exam? Do you this website? http://www.examenglish.com/
It is for people studying for an English exam, there are many free tests. It seems interesting.
