First things first, this is not a post about Obama. It is actually the answer for a question that popped up during a discussion in my MYP4 group last week. We were debating the communication revolution and we easily got to that consensus of being the internet one of the most powerful tools ever invented. Nevertheless, if ‘with great power comes great responsibility’, to what degree is this power offered to us, common users? Can we really use the internet to engender changes?
Yes! We Can! Going straight to the point, João Pessoa movie fans can now count on the privilege of deciding what they are going to see in the big screen. There’s this website in which you can create mobilizations to promote and demand pictures to be shown in our movie theatres—as long as you have enough people asking for that same picture, of course. For those who love alternative cinema; for those who can’t stand 5 rooms occupied by the same movie; for those who would like to try something different; for those who are just looking for a new place to create another profile = try MovieMobz.

Now I know why Die Welle (A Onda) has been released in João Pessoa! I SO wanted to see this movie on the big screen here in town, but I thought it wouldn't be possible.
ReplyDeleteThis MovieMobz.com thing its a great idea, now we have our own chance to try to see not only blockbusters, but also other good movies... Now lets vote for "Apenas o fim" to be shown here. :)
First of all : loved the youtube video related to the quote ' With great power comes great responsabily' :P . It's wonderful to know that the MovieMobz is really working in our city, I just couldn't stand 5 rooms with the same movies for weeks! Talking about online mobilizations, we also have the 'www.flashmob.com' which is a site that people organize mobilizations to express what they think . We have the brazilian site and lots of orkut communities too, I just don't think that we have this in joão pessoa yet. Uuuh, Internet RULES! BTW, I've watched ' Die Welle' and just LOVED, amazing movie, everybody should watch it :) See ya on Satuday guys
ReplyDeleteI like the movie! very interesting xP i like how MovieMobz works xD see ya!
ReplyDeleteI've always seen this moviemobz.com thing go on before the trailers (or is it after?), but had never logged in... 'til now! thank you, meet up speak up, I'll tell you later in case it changes my life. :)
ReplyDeletewell, Box will certainly improve a lot (lower prices included) once there's at least some real concurrence out there, which is not the case now, huh...
...and please-please-pleeeease vote for Persepolis! =D if it comes out, I'll give you chocolate.
p.s: Ju, I saw one of the flashmobs on MTV once, I think it was in SP, on the subway... just can't remember what they were mobzing about... stg like letting yorself free from ties and working suits I guess... :)
i like mobilizations and i think that the moovie mobs was a great idea. but i only think it would be nice to organize somethig to make a big mobilization. but if we realize we are in brazil, here so many kind of mobilizations don´t work cause the people don't vote
